Ceramics Museum

Officially created in 1983, the Ceramics Museum is an ancient desire of Caldas da Rainha population. A ceramic centre of recognize tradition.

The Ceramics Museum it is located in the historical city area, neraby D.Carlos I Park and the Bordalo Pinheiro Factory, installed on the old Visconde de Sacavém Farm acquired in 1981.

The Visconde de Sacavém Farm it is a set of Revivalism architecture style from the end of 19th Century. This is compose by a Late-Romantic Period Mansion, where is placed the permanent exhibition, and renewed attached area where are temporary exhibitions, as well as, the store, the pottery and the documentation centre. The Farm gardens, romantic style, are an interesting set of the end of the 19th Century preferences,with the alamedas, flowerbeds, flower pots and the outdoor auditorium. 

The place is decorated with different kind of ceramic arrangements like the 16th to 20th Centuries tiles, statues and ceramic architectural elements, such as, dragon-shape and boar-shape gargoyles on the Mansion's facades. This type of decoration makes this Museum peculiar making it a privilege place of leisure.
